Poetic gut-spilling

Tell me, doesn't the violence in those films bother you at all?

what violence?

Well, in The Lost World we had a guy torn in two and munched, and another one that gets stepped on and sticks to the big thing's foot like a used gum, whilst in Face/Off we had about 178 innocent cops killed by blowing up various parts of their bodies. But we were sitting there all the time crunching our popcorn and enjoying it immensely, and nobody else seemed to care either. Doesn't that, um, bother you?

well, what about all those drug dealers that died? i don't hear you crying about them here. what do you think? they don't have a mother and a dog back in old louisiana?

Well, maybe they do, and I'd hate to think about them, but at least I can tell myself that they had it coming to them. I don't hold special liking for drug dealers. But all those cops were just doing their job!

you see? you're doing it again!! the cops are okay, just doing their jobs... but what about this pushers? they did their jobs as well. and this cop come and starts shooting them like dogs and nobody gives about it!!

Why should I give a damn? They're the bad guys! They deserve to die!

this is just like you!! they are the good guys from their point of view and the cops are the bad guys! it's all about where you come from.

And that's supposed to make it okay? To know that some guys were killed from my side too, whatever that side is?

the only thing i have to say is that they asked for it!! they died cause of the poetic justice!

So you're saying everyone who died in those movies did something horrible in the past and so actually deserved to die, and justice has been done?

some of them did it in their past. some will do it in the future, and we managed to prevent it by killing them.

But what about the guy who gets split in The Lost World? He seemed like a really nice guy!

sure, he seemed like a nice guy - all the serial killers do!

Wow. I never thought of it that way. Lucky for us we had those dinosaurs eat him in time! There's really much more to those movies than I thought.

finally got it, huh?
