It's pretty tough for little comedies to get any real honor. Comedies don't win oscars, you know that, but they don't even get a lot here. I mean, most of the movies we write about are comedies in some sense, but they all have something else - special effects or Demi Moore. Last year I regretted not having The Truth about Cats and Dogs in the list - it's small and cute, but it's a movie you come out of with a good mood, and that's what's important. But this year, we had Romy and Michele's High School Reunion to help us.
we had jeanene! Janeane! Whatever! all you have to do is to have one look at her and wait till the moment she'll start talking and most likely is that you're roll on the floor laughing your ass off (red, i think we should start writing in irc shorts - rotflyao, it will save some cyber space.....). and she did play in the truth about... so we give her the honor she deserved one year later.
I've never heard about that Jeneane - Janiene? whatever - person before Cat's and Dogs, but she proved herself as someone you can count on. And she's also the movie star that looks least like a movie star that I know of - she's gonna play Little May in the movie version of The Red & May's World Tour 98, by the way. Well, we haven't actually contacted her about this yet, but I'm sure she won't mind.
ain't i lucky!?!? but there were few other players in that movie that made it what it is, like mira and lisa. what can i say? like, duh!!! they played two stupid american teens that stayed just a bit too long as teens. but we have a solid ground to assume that they're not really that stupid.
- that, unlike some other american actresses, who play idiots wonderfully, because they really are ones. (Elizabeth Berkly comes to mind.) Actually it's hard to say if my fellow americans will really understand why this movie was so funny, since they are used to this kind of thinking, but just show this movie to a british audience - they'll ROLTFTAO.
red! i know that i said it few times last year but i'm kinda sure about it now. we don't have anymore american readers after that line!!!
Nah, just because most of the americans are morons doesn't mean that those who have read till this point are ones, too. People, don't take it personally! You can feel free to call me names back.
Ow. That hurt.
now that i'm sure that we're writing only to ourselves and couple of scotts, we'll go back to the movie. looking at that movie makes you think that they were just laughing about stuff that happened every day in their life and someone was taping it. it's nothing more then a little story that almost everyone knows in one way or another. but it sure funny as hell to see it happen to someone else.
Have you seen the movie? Yeah, right, a normal, everyday story that happens to everyone. Especially the part about the ridicilous dancing, getting snatched by helicopters and telling everyone you invented post-its to make them respect you.
well... yes!! don't you? i mean look back to the years we spent in high-school and the people we had there. can't you see that if we will get together few years from now this could happened? and i'll sure be a lot more
like jaeneane than i'm now.
Thanks for the suggestion, but looking back at the high school years is something I'd rather not do. And I don't think any reunion is coming up. And if there is one, I don't think anyone will be really surprised when we come there together.
together? i'm going to come there with Gina!!!!!
Yeah. Sure you are.
ooh! right! break the dreams of a little girl!! why not? rub it in!!
Anyway. If you want a look into the american soul, this movie is excellent, and if you don't, it's extremely funny, if you're willing to ignore a couple of severe lapses in logic.
but between you and me, what is logic?!
