A few words in favor of free speech

This is a tragic story with a moral to it. And the moral is: Cencorship is bad. Fight it with all your might. Now read on, if you dare.

in the beginning of this sad, sad day i opened the paper and read about a movie that was forbidden for 21 years! first thing i did was to call red and tell him that we're on for tonight, there is something that we've got to see. the second mistake of this day is that red had a free time to go to see it.

That movie was made in 1976, so it's actually as old as us. But, for some reason, the cencsorship committee of the land of Iz - normally a pretty open-minded bunch, who don't usually tend to cut out pieces of movies on a whim, just because they think there's too much blood in them - said Uh, No way, Not in our School, and wouldn't let the movie go on theaters at all. The legal fight went on for 20 years, until they finally gave up, being, as I said, an open and friendly bunch. "Okay" - they said - "But it's on your risk."
This is where the sad part starts.

and hour and a half of total suffering. not to mention that in the beginning that theater was almost full and in the end there was only us and 3 or 4 other brave people, and even all of us were on the edge of vomiting.

The name of the movie, since you asked, was In the Realm of the Senses.
Those of you who were unlucky enough to have seen it know what we're talking about.

and those who didn't, lucky for you that it's not playing anywhere anymore so there is no way that you will see it by a misfortunate mistake of a sleepy ticket seller.

And the tragedy? If the censors wouldn't have tried to stop innocent people from seeing this piece of particularly disgusting pornography in the first place, it would have come and gone 20 years ago, and there was no way we would have seen it now. So, as I said: Fight Cencorship. Free Speech for all!
