They knocked on my door, said they came to take me to donate organs.
I sat on a conveyor belt and waited my turn.
I saw three men and a woman go by the belt, sometimes talking to the people.
but the glances were brief, and I didn't hear what was being said, so I didn't really know what to expect...
I've heard stories about it,
but I've never actually talked to anyone who's done it.
The first man I reached asked me all kinds of questions about myself.
Like how old I am, what I like to eat, how often do I practice, and did I ever eat the rations the Company gives.
He seemed pretty pleased by my answers.
The second man asked me to take my clothes off.
Actually he said that the shirt I have to take off but the pants and panties are up to me, but if I don't want them to get dirty I should take them off too.
So I took everything off.
He folded them neatly and said I can get them back on the way out, and smiled a bit cruelly.
The third man weighed me and measured my height.
And then he told me to lie on my back, and that if I want I can fall asleep because it will take a little longer until the woman will see me.
So I lay on my back and I fell asleep.
I dreamed about a cat.
When I woke up I saw her above me.
She wore a red nylon gown
(Actually I'm not really sure it was red when I saw her for the first time)
Her eyes were light blue and she smiled at me.
I told her that from all the stories I thought she'd be much scarier.
She laughed and said she knows all about those stories.
And then she took out a big knife and waved it in the air and I understood that the stories were really true.
A few seconds later she held my heart in her hand, pulsing and red.
She said now just a few stitches and that's it, nobody will ever know. But I had a feeling I'll be left with a nasty scar.
When I saw the needle I fainted, I'm afraid of needles.
And then when opened my eyes again I was lying next to another girl in a kind of a back room.
I got up and walked out. Outside I saw the line of the people who came to donate.
I also saw the cat from my dream in the line.
Strange - I didn't know cats donate organs too.
